Padang (Indonesia)

Padang is a large city, by the Pacific Ocean, in the Indonesia, on the island of Sumatra’s west coast. The city's climate is tropical rainforest. The year’s average temperature is very close +26 C throughout the year and the driest month being February. Padang's most famous attractions are its colorful historical centre built by the Dutch, and the old Chinatown. The city is also very conservative, so the women should always wear at least a T-shirt and long pants, and travelling alone isn’t recommended. The nightlife is almost non-existent due to the citys Muslim majority. The town is also located on top of tectonic collision zone, so earthquakes are common, the most recent large one took place in 2009, and killed more than 1,000 people.
