Kolkata is the second largest city in India, its located in the countrys easternmost corner, along the Hooghly River. The city's climate is tropical, so the temperature stays very close to +30 C throughout the year and the most rainfall comes from May to October. The city has a lot of colonial-era buildings, gardens, palaces, mosques and temples. The city also has a few good museums and the city is also India's soccer center. Calcuttas large markets are popular among shoppers. Calcutta is also a little safer than most of the Indian cities, although the normal security rules in Muslim country is good to keep in mind.
